The escape-room website, as the industry now builds it

We invented two patterns for escape-room sites: the room cards and the booking page. Here is what they are and why the category copied them.

An escape-room website room card in the Massive Impact framework style, showing a shipwrecked theme.

Most escape-room websites are brochures. They tell you the company exists, list a few rooms, and bury the one thing a visitor came to do: pick a room and book a time. Over years of building for escape rooms, we settled on two patterns that fix that, and enough of the industry copied them that they are now just how a good escape-room site looks.

The two frameworks

The first is the room card: the block that sells a single room at a glance. The second is the booking page: the screen where a chosen room turns into a paid reservation. Get those two right and the rest of the site is decoration. Get them wrong and no amount of hero video saves the booking.

We break each one down in its own post. Start with the room cards, because a visitor meets them first, then read the booking page, because that is where the money is won or lost.

Why patterns beat a redesign

A pattern is a decision you do not have to make again. When the room card and the booking page are settled, every new theme drops into a shape that already converts. That is why we treat them as frameworks, not one-off designs: they hold up across a pirate room, a horror room, and a corporate team-building night without a rebuild.
